This course offers us a place to blast open a critical space toward a better understanding of how our globalizing, ever-diversifying, and ever-pluralizing society informs our communities and schools in the US. We will excavate far below the surface in this course to interrogate notions of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and ability. Not only will we treat these notions, thickly, in theory, we will also wrestle with them, concretely, through a critical service learning experience.

Project
Let us use this particular strand to discuss any issues related to our ongoing project at VOA.
Just to let you guys know the colors we have available are light blue, taupe, a light brown, and a goldish color and a gallon or two of odd colors like purple and red. Also Adam what about the concrete? Does Terry need to come tomorrow to look at it? And what about bringing in my stuff?
Molly, Thanks for taking on the responsibility of posting our project info. I know everyone is busy and I appreciate you stepping up to take on this added job.
Hey everyone! Last night I talked to a gentleman and he is willing to have donated some plants and flowers if we tell him what we need. Do we still want to try this? They would be free... I need to tell him ASAP but wanted to ask..
Molly: • Spackle • Drop cloths • Tape measure and toolkit • Ladder
Leigh Ann: • Brushes • Masking tape • Rollers • Extenders • “Swatches” of available paint colors • Any other painting supplies…
Adam: • Primer (for oil-based paint)
Other items needed: • Extra painting supplies • Another ladder
*** Cleaning Supplies*** Would it work best if everyone bring a variety of things they have at home? If we are all cleaning, we will all need some supplies. • Buckets • Sponges • Soap • Windex • Paper towels • ETC…
Needs for later? • Lighting – lamps, light bulbs, etc. • Plants • Rugs • Border • Carpet remnants • Curtains (4 long curtains, 2 shorter curtains) • Tension Rods • Tablecloths • Beanbags or pillows • Foam mats
Goals for Monday: • Clean • Spackle • Prime walls

I have found one :( chadelier in my basement that was not thrown out and will bring in tomorrow, maybe we could use for the baby room. I know its not much but it may lighten it up a bit. I will also bring some cleaning supplies. I also have carpet remnants, air freshner plug ins, and can pickup some lamps.
Another PS just to let you guys know- My husband and I went down to the center today(Sun). We measured for a 16x16 concrete pad totaling about 3 yards of concrete. I have to call IMI in the morning. Also, Terry said he doesn't think we need an oil base primer. Regular primer would work and he also said it would probably take a good 5 gallons of whatever color we choose. Just as a reminder we have like 5 gall of the yellow and we could mix in the goldish color with it and about 5-7 gal of the blue. And 5 gal of orange...

Also, IMI is willing to donate the concrete for the basketball court. We just need to measure for it and will do that tomorrow afternoon

I'll be happy to go pick up some primer in the morning, just let me know, Lee Ann, how much you already have, and I'll get the rest.

I would be glad to bring any cleaning supplies that I have at home. I think that I have some magic erasers and that type stuff.
